Heres a little education for you youngsters.
Club songs and party joints etc etc... ARE REAL HIP HOP
If you take a look at the roots, and i mean really look at it.. Rapping started out as party shit.
Hip Hop originated with the dj and the mc as an afterthought almost at first as much as anything just to hype up parties..
Battling began as seeing who could move the crowd more than witty lines. Now admitedly there was a changing of the guard so to speak with the kool moe-busy bee battle that had already been in the works
just remember next time you talk about REAL HIP HOP
it started as nothing more than djs at parties and mcs trying to up and shout out the djs and get the crowd moving
ba di da bang di ba di ba diddy dyddy shit is where we started at and thats still part of it, dancing and partying is a part of music people
thank you for your time |

But I think what he tryna say is that a lot of NY rappers be sayin Hip Hop is dead cause errybody ain't on that NY ish no more like it was in the early 90's and before. NY held it down for the early 90's and really birthed some of the illest styles in Hip Hop to date, can't front...but the fact that Hip Hop has many styles that differ from NY rap n tracks doesn't mean that it's dead...

It's about the culture being slept on by both.
Name one rapper this day in time, that spit on some real shit.
IMO Both sides are getting too commercial.
Everyone wants to be on some punchline, wordplay, shit. |

Rep Power: 3 | Re: You dont know.. True, we do deny some of that club stuff as hip hop sometimes, but times have changed. When you speak of moving the crowd, that was initially the DJ's job. Today, 'moving the crowd' means something totally different. It's all about what gets women's asses shaking in the clubs. We've accepted that as part of hiphop, the only problem is that the market has become so saturated with music like this, that all sounds alike, with little to no originality/creativity to differ from each other. Now, the watered down form of hip hop is what is being presented to the masses, and is an inaccurate representation of what hip hop music, and hip hop culture is all about. The fact that this club music is such a small part of hip hop, combined with the fact that it is the most represented in the mainstream is why we tend to deny this kind of music as real hip-hop. |

does anybody remember when Redman, Keith Murray, and Erick Serman remade "Rapper's Delight"? That was the shit, they had on the big dookie ropes with the gold name plates(no diamonds). We need more of that shit from todays artist to keep people from forgettin why we have rap music.
