Rapper/actor Will Smith continued his box office success this weekend. Smith’s new movie, The Persuit of Happyness took in an estimated $27 million over the weekend to claim the number one spot.
The picture is being lauded for its positive depiction of African American fathers, something not seen often in the world of Hip Hop or media in general. Happyness is the story of Chris Gardener, who became a millionaire after being a homeless, single father.
"It's been a long time since a movie has touched me like this. I saw a lot of myself in him," Kindred the Family Soul front man Fatin Dantzler told the Philadelphia Enquirer. "Unfortunately, this isn't what we see most times," he continued. "Art often depicts reality and the reality Hollywood directors see is what most people see in the media, black men in negative roles. Good black fathers don't see themselves on the news."
Smith lead Happyness to box office victory over two other highly anticipated debut films, Charlotte’s Web and Eragon.
| Im def gonna go see this. The story behind this movie is amazing. I actually heard of this long before the movie was announced, the guy was on Cnn or one of them channels discussing his life. Wills a good actor also, only other guy I could see would be Denzel.

I liked It. And i don't think a movie like this can have slow moments ya know it's a life story man. But yea..This is probably My favorite movie of the year. Good movie

LONG AS HELL. or at least it seemed like it. It was a good movie, kind of slow at times, but still good. there wasnt as much drama as I thought there would be.
