This is in reference to Bush visiting the Tornado's that rip through Alabama & Georgia. What stood out to me is what he was quoted in saying. How do we get propose billions for the war we are in...with no problems...But when we face disasters at home its " were asking for donations" ?

Donations are always collected for horrible things like this. When the tsunami hit, the U.S. PEOPLE [not the government] sent more money then anyone else in the world. Its the nature of our nation. When there are natural disasters or other tragedy and people need help, we help them.

President Bush assured tornado victims Saturday that help is on the way as he toured towns in Alabama and Georgia that were among the hardest hit by Thursday's storms.

After Thursday's storms, FEMA immediately sent 14 teams armed with food, water, ice, tarps, plastic sheeting and communications equipment.

Things are being done, the people are getting help. Its just a bureaucracy, so its works slowly and most times poorly. thats just the nature of bureaucracies. That is why personal donations are better, because the charity organizations actually get shit done quickly and competently. The government helps, there just asking the people to help as well.

truth told. but dont forget that there are about 908123642 more of you then there are in other wealthy nations, so when talking about 'how much' or 'how many' you should deal with proportions, not raw numbers. either way, its admirable, just thought i'd throw that out there.

^ irregaurdless the point that was made is that the U.S. by nature donates money to the people in need of it.

Singing up grants and funding for dissaster relief is done with every natural dissaster occurance however that takes time and processing whereas public and personal donations are immediately forfieted to the relief.

soon as you forget about your own people you're heading for the shit, Bushs' Katrina fuck up, by not appearing spoke volumes about his administrations view on poorer people, area etc.
