Why smoke?

This is my question to the people who choose to smoke! The most common answer I hear is that it relieves stress. If that's the case then u most be a really stressed-out individual. Think about it, if u were really that stressed out, then smoking isn't going to do anything for u. C'mon, there is no satisfaction u can get from smoking accept maybe from Black-n-Milds (u get a slight buzz and it smells good). I know this cause I'm a retired smoker myself! Reason why I stopped, is because like I said earlier, u gets no satisfaction, meaning u get no buzz affect like u do from drinking and etc. Also, another reason why I stopped is because I kept on getting headaches and suffered from dizzyness.

Another common answer I hear a lot of is why people continue to smoke even after hearing the consequences u can get from it is because we all are goin to die anyway. That maybe true! I think of it like this, we all can choose on how we want to die, either the torture way or the in your sleep way. If u continue to smoke even after knowing the side effects then, u are automaticly enrolled in the torture way to die.

To me, I think smoking is stupid and pointless, especially now since I don't smoke no more! I think the majority of young people who smoke is because they think it's cool or a "Monkey see, Monkey do" type thang. As for the older crowds who smoke, it is more of a "having nothing else to do with time" type thang. Also, I feel as though, that if any smoker can comprehend this, then there should be no reason why they can't stop smoking.

If anybody has better answers on why they or somebody else smokes or continues to smoke, please express it here! Thank-you!

This is the arugment most people use for smoking bans. People act as if its their RIGHT to never feel 'unpleasant.' Its not. If you dont like smoking in a restaurant, go somewhere else. No one forced you to eat out.

Why shouldn't 'they'. Its a 'free' country for everyone, not just non-smokers. If you dont like a restaurant because there are smokers, THEN DONT GO. No one is forcing you. And if you feel there a so many people like you, open up a Non-Smoking Restaurant. Let it be up to the business owner to decide smoking or non-smoking, not the government.

What I'm saying is for the smokers who smoke, why do it? There's no pleasure in doing so! Matter of fact, there's no pleasure at all but pain, resentment, and regret later in life! All I'm saying is that if you are stuck with the attitude of everybody's going to die someday and that's why you continue to smoke, my question to you is why choose to die painfully?

I smoke because im addicted, and i enjoy it. A cig tastes very good after a meal, while drinking, after smoking kill, etc. And i am well aware it will kill me. I like to think I will quit in the next couple years, but who knows.

but the reason I smoke is I enjoy it. Thats what all of my friends would tell ya to.

but if you dont already smoke, DONT SMOKE.

lol..yes smoking after a meal is great..but i dont smoke cigs..i smoke milds..and the best time is after a meal..and after you done smoked a L..and when i said why smoke i meant weed..not cigs..but it dont matter..do you smoke weed..im not addicted to weed..cuz i have self control..i stop all the time..but end up goin back because i like being high and i dont have no worries when im high..but i wouldnt say im addicted..but shit mabey i am..and one of the reasons i think people might say there addicted to weed..is when they go get a blunt..and when they roll it up in the blunt it has nicotine in it...thats prolly why some1 gets addicted besides jus sayin you like it..

thats just as bad for you, btw. But i enjoy a black from time to time. It stops me from smoking a cig for about 15 minutes, but then i tend to smoke a cig after i finish a black. Just because.

yea it is harder on you..i hoop everyday and im starting to notice that im catchin my breathe more often..lol at it helps me not smoke a cig for 15 min..thats true.. my dude next to me says he smokes milds to stop smokin cigs..lol it says on the box its not a substitute...but now he smokes 15 or so milds a day..its much worse for him now..i try to tell him..

"He smokes 15 milds a day!" I don't beleive u! That's crazy! How can u smoke that many in a single day? It's only 5 that come in a pack and 1 mild is equal to 2-3 cigs.That will make it 30-45 cigs in a day (1.5-2.5 packs) and will make 3 packs of milds (estimated cost 12 or more dollars).With this price, he should have brought a 20 pack. But forget that, all I'm sayin for dude is he's killin himself faster than an average smoker.

As for addiction, I believe it is all in your mind. I believe that addiction or being an addict is just a word to cover up the weakness people have in tryin to stop.

Also, did ya'll know that if u stop now and stay clean for 10 yrs. then your lungs will go back to bein normal again. This is what my doctor said!

i think the stress releif and the relaxation factors come from the measured and rhythmic deep breathing and not the actual smoke itself

anyways, i smoke because i like it and the buzz is nice.

i love menthol ciggys, preferably newports. i like smoking at work, after work, after eating, while drinking.
