Rep Power: 8 | Re: Where the EAST AT? ^^LOL... so how come you aint mention Black Thought? Listen I'm into all kinds of rap and don't break down shit into sub-genres, it's all Hip Hop music to me. I like the thought provoking shit but most of the time that thought provoking shit has good lyrics but the overall music is slackin, to be real. I used to be an underground head nasty style when I was younger, Weathermen, Def Jux and shit like that. But I grew up on Bone Thugs, Do or Die, Twista, Snoop Dogg, Trick Daddy, Wu-Tang, Boot Camp Click, etc. etc. Only exception to what I just said seems to be Talib, Common and Kanye. That dude NYOil seemed koo but I can't relate to some of his shit.
But, just to be clear, I own multiple albums from KRS-One, Kool G Rap and Rakim. TRUST.. Imma hip hop head, word to Pharoahe Monch.
Yall niggahz got me FIIIIIIIENDIN for some Grafh. I forgot how dope he is, reminds me of my homie Reason.
But yeah... if yall drop names leave links too so I can grab some shit!

Rep Power: 1 | Re: Where the EAST AT? That is a good question. I stick to proven artists.
Nas, Black Thought, Kweli (his mixtape pre-album was sick). Tell you the truth though, I'm looking forward to LL Cool J and Jay Z. Some nasty shit is brewing out of that. I don't think Jigga will fare well against Jack the ripper, not for lack of skills though. LL has beaten too many good MCS. Jay lost to Nas badly.
Here's a question, if a battle took place between Nas and Cool J (not pop Cool J, Jack The Ripper Cool J ), who would win and why?
I'm with royal rapstress though. You got to have skills and make sense. Too much to ask from most nowadays!

Rep Power: 2 | Re: Where the EAST AT? Yeah if you notice the concious rappers are the most slept on. They don't always get the best production and people don't really give them the credit they deserve. Kanye got lucky cause he actually produces beats and has a decent flow...but dudes like Mos Def, Black, Talib, KRS( only known as old school nowadays) don't get the props warrented cause, sadly, most hip hop heads only wanna hear about "sex, murder and mayhem...romance of the streets, man and I'll tell ya it'll be tha best seller," - Jigga already said it. That street life is what sells...but you start rappin bout politics, spirituality, monogamy, higher learnin and cats don't wanna hear it unless you "add a mother fucka so these ignant niggas hear me" - Lauryn predicted corectly as well.lol

Rep Power: 7 | Re: Where the EAST AT? well, royal...if you want to stay away from all that, its all about areas other than east coast basically
midwest and cali hold it down real well as far as the non 'shoot em up' shit
but as far as all this, the more underground shit ya'll been mentioning im into, as i like to call them 'mixtape' artists and lost touch for, ive feel too much into all about the lrycis
and honestly royal, if you want not so violent, lisen to canibus if you dont already...nothing from him is expected soon, but none the less, i can listen to him all day
Though i gotta say, who killed hip hop is my favorite song of the year, its pretty much a breakdown of how ive felt about hip hop since 02 or so
jabbs, i saw you put up a smith n wessen video, is there anything new from them?
and i know this twists things around to the west coast, but who's into the wake up show cds?
cuz many of the people named in this thread have been on there
