What if I turn rapflava into a social network site like myspace not just a forum

Been thinking about this for a minute and I dont know if it might hurt to do it or not.

What if I turn the site into a myspace type of site?

Will most of yall leave? or will most of yall like it more?

I think I can get money to do such a thing but im not sure if it will be a good idea.

Definitely we might get massive new sign ups a day and lots of female members but then I might be taking out the idea of the site being a hiphop oriented site... (battles, emcee'n and all that platform)

leave this and have this be in conjunction w/ the other new platform. like how they have myspace spanish a click away, just have the forum a click away, and the platform the main because it will prolly have more people in the long run.

what do you mean by a myspace site , as in layout?...because the forum needs to be kept as that yo...a forum.Not some blog link or let's see how many friends we can add to it and then spread that url...don't fuck with what ain't broke duke.

I think if you'd want to go that route you should start a new site.. rapflava doesnt sound social networkish.. it sounds like a myspace music type deal.

I'd say leave it how it is, just fix it up.
Add the main page, fix the forum color.
The myspace style profile was a good idea.
Just implement that back in.

But it is broke.. I would tell Chris as a business person if you think you're capable of running a site similar to myspace and making money then do it over having a half-dead rap board. Not to say I dont enjoy coming here still, but I wouldnt knock you for wanting to come up.

And from a business perspective, how many of us motherfuckers do you suppose would leave if this site is converted into some generic myspace/facebook POS? I know I would spend a lot less time here, because I come to read other people text, listen to other peoples recordings, and post my own text and recordings...I don't come here primarily for the social aspect, though I can't speak for all of you. Personally, I think this is a shitty idea.

Chris, in a way, you've already turned Rapflava into a social network. We can now befriend one another and have our own "Myspace" like pages, an example would be STRONGARM's profile - he can personalize it the way he wants to. If you continued to refurbish and approve the appearance/workings of the site, support the magazines coming out that you had no idea existed (The Poetry Magazine, for instance) then activity would begin to flourish again. Water wells dry from irrigational neglect. Let's not let that happen to RF, a once booming forum that's still trying to tick.

no the forum will stay. u know like on myspace, if you click on forum it will take u to their forums so I will have rapflava the same way.

Nothing about the forum will change but instead of having a main page, it will just be like myspace were people will have the option to do shit like myspace and then a link to the forum will lead u to this forum but with a different looks to suit the social network software I will be buying template.

Plus with all these other myspace style sites popping up it's gonna
be hard to compete with them. Just leave it like it is, but fix it.
