Rep Power: 11 | I didn't read any of that shit, but the war on terror was never aimed at Iraq. In fact, Al Queda was an enemy of Suddam's as he had a secular government that disallowed religion to interfere. His dealings with the UN also had him marked as an infidel by Osama. You could argue that Saddam was a terrorist to his own people, but then again we left him in power for our reasons of our own greed and we really don't care about terrorists that don't attack us. We did have reason to go in, but only with the UN since it would've been based on inhumanity laws since he was murdering his own people.
The idea that we're there to now spread democracy is an even bigger joke. If we're there to spread democracy, why didn't we do so in Iran? There was the democractic revolution in Iran which the majority of the population supported. Not only did we not support them, we helped the Shah overthrow them, altogether. We removed their democratically elected Prime Minister. To be supported by what? A dictatorship. Think about that for a second.
Why did we out him, exactly? He was going to throw out a British oil company and he wouldn't align himself with us during post WW2. When most of the population agreed with this, this is a true democratic move, yet we looked upon it as a dangerous thing and removed him through a CIA coup.
Ask yourself, if we'd rather have a dictatorship than a democracy in another country just because it'd further our own agenda, do our leaders look at our democracy as a bargaining chip as well?

Rep Power: 11 | Even more, if we're now basing our occupation of Iraq as a "humanitarian effort", why would we not help countries of Africa that are in just as bad, if not worse shape than Iraqi's were facing? Africa doesn't have a certain commodity, thats why.
If we're supposedly making America safer, then why is it that now more European Muslims are supporting the recent terrorist attacks, by a BBC poll? We're making even more enemies than we had beforehand. We look at ourself as a man amongst ants, but remember that a focused army of ants could take down a person, if united.

also another good fact...
what i thaught was really stupid. but not exactly a loss is the fact
that the live 8 concert is a free show. witch is good. but damn it
if they would just charge a dollor or 2 a person. it would have still
sold out. as a matter of fact people knowing that there is money
donations they most likely would come more. the way people are
today they feel more content with knowing that they are financialy
backing something. rather then just donate'n time....but anyways
for 1 dollar a head..thats 4 quarters..for live shows from world
famous band and artists..im sure they would have sold..live 8 is a landmark
music event...they woulda made 1 million dollars in tickets alone...not to mention
if u run an add for 10 dollar donations. (2 billion more people)..there is no telling
how much money they could have raised..not to mention africa needs
democrocy and commerce as well

Rep Power: 11 | Live 8 is pure bullshit. We've sent countless billions to Africa with nothing good coming of it. You just can't send money somewhere, you have to make sure its used properly. Currently all that money is just being filtered through corrupt political officials. Basically, we're funding the oppression of millions. Nothing good will come of it, at all.

well in that case we should take charge in where the
funding is to go. if nothing is coming of it then we should
take it to a council or something like UN

| You can also apply this to the whole WMD scenario. North Korea was and is much more of a threat to the US than Iraq ever was, so why attack Iraq and not N.Korea? Simple, N.Korea has weapons, including probable nukes and little oil. Iraq was virtually defenceless and has an abundance of oil supplies. As we all know, inspectors are yet to find any WMD's in Iraq.
This explains (not necessarily justifies) Iranian eagerness to nuclearly arm themselves. Iran is also rich in oil, and America has enough excuses to 'justify' an invasion of Iran. But if Iran has nukes, similar to the N.Korea situation, US will not invade. Combine this with Israel's current aggression, and you can see why Iran is so keen to protect themselves.
You have to ask, 'what happens when other countries not allied with the west see this pattern of US (and Israeli) aggression against countries with little/no real defence?' It is quite possible that in the next decade if things continue as they are, most of the middle east will be nuclearly armed.
