lol i know this may sound weird but i actually think there is a point of textceeing over just audio battling or regular rap....
since it doesnt focus as much on how the vocals sound and flow with the fact that theres no beat, it acutally leaves more room IMO to focus on things like multies, metas, better punchlines, instead of worrying what its really gunna sound like...i mean u read the lyrics to a popular rap song nowadays and its pretty damn basic...the only reason they are where they are is because they know what the people like, and are dedicated to making that kind of music instead of focusing on complex lyricism, and they have good producers also...but if u read a text-battle or a text open mic, most likely its gunna be pretty ill, because it has to be, because people dont just wanna go out of their way to read a rap on the internet in words..theyre used to hearing it...so therefore, u have to spice things up more to make it worth-while reading

If you can't spit it in real life, you can't do shit with your lyrics. Simple as. An emcees lyrics are an important aspect of his style, but not more so than his flow, voice etc. If you got a dope flow and voice, you can get away with shitty lyrics. If you got no flow and a god-awful voice, all the lyrics in the world can't save you from being wack.
Saying that, text is a great way to improve your lyricism as people judge your work entirely on the lyrics, compared to the audio booth where good lyrics seem like an added bonus.

On RF, a lot of the text open mic heads write stuff to spit out loud with a catchy flow to it. If your shit is blatantly stretched, it won't get any love from respected writers on here.

listen b, once you learn how to fuckin rap, you dont need to focus on how your lyrics flow when you're writing because when you learn how to deliver your shit it comes natural. Looking for excuses to stick to text aint gonna get you no where g. Text is good for improving your lyrics but, in no way is it better to continue texting then to step up and become an overall emcee.

text is good... but its not gonna get you anywhere... i used to think like you... thats why i waited so long to go audio... now im in the process of... i always thought you have to have the best text to be the best audio.. when its not true....

and what makes you think that can you pik someone elses flow by reading a verse.

if you had ever done audio you would know different beats require different flows, some beats u may get more words to a bar, so your text would look more stretched than if not, so what you think is stretched may just be a 'catchy flow'
