Selfish Love

I was thinking today and kinda had this thought cross my mind. It seems to me a lot of love is really selfish. There isnt much selfless love left (or maybe never was) on this planet. So much of it is really based around something they do for or give to you.

you cant love someone truly and not be selfish about them. that crap about 'i just want them to be happy' doesnt apply caus thats just like saying 'i dont care what they do'.

I agree, love is selfish in a lot of ways and for the majority it is, but not saying that there isn't actually passionate love that exists.

my point in this is not being selfish about them.. underneath felt me more here

what im saying is.. its love based around something tangible/intangible they provide rather than true undying love for the person as you see in familial love etc

for example i have friends that i dont really like anymore, but based on that person and who i know they are their core and other factors.. i may not hang out with them much but if they really needed me or their life was in danger id be there in an instant

love beyond the here and now and what they can do/provide/give you
