i used to be a correctional officer in dade county and its really not that unlikely that he would deal with feds.

if he happend to be in contact with some one or knew somthing about a particular incident or persons history.

he could be sequestered for a deposition it happens frequently. Feds
regular beat cops and C.0s sometimes work together i`m speaking from first hand experience.

not experience of speaking on some one else but seeing it happen at work to co workers.
