ok.. first you've never done music that I would personally buy or listen to.. but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate it.. so here goes.
Intro Cool but it'd be better if it didn't end abruptly.. maybe if it echoed into the first track. Not a big deal.
1. Like the beat. Nice.. flow is on point. Like the swagger.. something I've felt you've always had by the way. lyrics aren't bad either.. my biggest problem with you (always) but I'm starting to see you're not trying to be the second coming of Can-I-Bus so it's irrelevant.
Nice little intro track. Feeling it.
2. Like this beat aswell. Hahahahaha.. funny hook. "These kids is making noise, tell they ass to go to bed" hahaha. The only thing I don't like about this song is it's hype as fuck for the hook but kind of slow for the verses.. wish it was hype all the way through..! Tight song.
3. ugh.. your vocals are shitty on this track. They don't sound mixed right.. sounds like your spitting OVER the beat.. not on it. Same as the hook. It's a cool song.. but it sounds wrong. Vocals need fixing.. you can tell the difference easily especially since the first two songs the vocals are perfectly mixed.. so it makes the problem more glaring. The hook has it worst since you can barely hear your girl the last two bars because the music is so loud it drowns her out. Overall: fix the levels and this will be a cool song.
4. Ok.. banging bass. Nice first verse. Like the hook. I wish the music was louder. 2nd verse is equally good. Actually you DO sound like Petey Pablo.. hahaha 'member I said that..? Cool song. Don't like this beat as much as the first 3. But it's still bumpin.
5. DAMN..! Bass is fucking nice. Hook is nice. Don't like your flow on the first verse.. sounded like you were a little too fast in certain spots.. 2nd verse the flow is WAYYYYY better. Flowed perfectly. You rode the beat better.. every pause hit on point. nice. Same as the third verse. I think the problem with your first verse was you had too many words so it sounded like you were rushing to spit it all out.. but with this type of laid back beat that doesn't sound good... 2nd and 3rd verse were shorter.. so it flowed better. Overall nice..!
6. hahahaha.. sweet lord, a fucking "let's wait awhile" sample. Horrible. Vocals on the hook are alittle too loud. Verses.. I actually like your voice on this track. Not as "Raspy". Like the verses.. not feeling the hook or the music. The hook is annoying.. the girls tone is terrible..! Not feeling this track.. but overall it has nothing to do with you so..
7. Nice. Hahahaha.. nice first verse. Real shit. Really.. you'd think the whole Rap game consisted of active drug dealers and gangstas.. nope. Like the hook. 2nd verse is tight. Riding the beat perfectly. Definitely upped your lyrical game since the last tracks I've heard from you Ras. Loved it when Nas ripped this with that other dude.. you didn't ruin that memory by talking about some stupid shit. Bumpin song. props..!
8. Cool hook. Nice flow.. some spots it falls off, mostly when you try to jam a shit load of convo into one small area. Liking this song. "DOIIIING" hahahaha.. liked it overall.
9. Nice. 1st verse perfect. Hook is cool. A bit loud.. but not too much. 2nd verse.. real talk. Nice. Cool track.
r10. Damn I just got this instrumental.. Jeezy shit. Nice. You ride this beat perfectly. Nice. Whole spit was flawless. Lyrics were dope. Like this.
r11. Ok. Vocals on this song sound weird like that 3rd song. They don't sound like they were mixed right. Sounds like I'm listening to the beat and listening to the verses seperately.. you know. Hook is nice. Southern shit. Not from there.. but I like the swag. 1st guy: cool verse. 2nd guy: cool as well.. both ride the beat nice. 1st dude had more emotion though. 3rd/Ras more emotion and swagger than the first two dudes combined. More presence aswell.. nothing super lyrical.. but a cool rep_yo_city type of jam.
r12. hahahahaha.. funny hook. Reminds me of some Jazzy Pha type of shit. 1st dude.. fuck he sounds familliar.. kind of like Phife from A Tribe.. or maybe some one else. Can't put my finger on it. Nice verse. Hook is killing me. Ras: man you've really upped your lyrics.. impressive. Man.. that hook is so terribly sung it's fucking funny.. probably why I like it..! hahahaha.. nice.
r13. Hook is cool. Music is cool.. orchestra type of shit. Flow and lyrics on point. Nice story telling. Overall another good track.
r14. Liking the music.. uplifting feel. You really have a vocal presence.. it really shines on this. Hook is nice.. "Cuz I'm Hiiiiiigh" hahahaha. Lyrics on point. Liked this track.
r15. Last track... outro. damn your southern. hahahahaha.. you got swag just speaking..! I'm assuming the track that plays at the end fades out midsong because it's just an example of what was misinterpreted.. but I've actually never heard that track.!? So I wanted to hear the rest. Oh well.
Final Thoughts
Overall an impressive offering. Has a lot of different sounding tracks.. so it's not monotomous. Wasn't bored listening to it. First and foremost I want to hammer home the point about how impressed I was by the jump up in your lyrics and flow.. you've always had swag, you've always had a vocal presence, you've always had the ability to write complete songs but the biggest things you lacked, imo, was lyrics and flow. Flow, not really a big problem.. it just used to be like you never rode the beat.. more like slowly talked over it. Lyrics.. again you don't have to be Rakim.. but atleast throw some multi-rhyme syllables.. atleast. Both those issues were pretty much non-existant in these tracks right here. had some minor flow issues (MINOR) when you tried to jam a shit load of words into one bar.. but for the most part I was consistently impressed track by track by the lyrics and flow. Really good work..!
Track/Vocal Volume: Very inconsistent. Some tracks are really loud and bumpin.. then some aren't. Some tracks have perfectly mixed vocals.. some don't and sound seperated. It's noticible because of how the tracks are listed.. so like the first 2 tracks are perfect.. then the third isn't. etc...
Things Change: I listened to every track and left feed while listening. Now.. it's rare that AFTER I listen to the track I'm feeding.. that I listen to it again. But I actually listened to your tracks AGAIN (the ones I was feeling).. and that solidifies the fact that imo you've definitely elevated from so-so to someone who I'd check for on here.
Nice work man. Hope you keep writing, keep making music and make A LOT of noise in your area with this Mixtape Ras. Turned my fucking head.. I expected the worst and was pleasantly surprised. I swear If nothing else,
RF has opened and elevated my tastes in other types of music. Best of luck Ras.
