I don't think either side is saying that the illegal immigrant shouldn't be held accountable for his actions, but Geraldo is simply saying that the larger issue here is the abuse of alcohol, which is something that anyone is succeptable to. Using this one crime as a rallying point for why illegal immigration is a problem is really faulty. I disagree with illegal immigration, but it's not because one illegal immigrant was driving while intoxicated.

yeah i kinda agree. Im 1000% against illegal immigration, but this is a kinda disingenuous argument. It just shows that not all illegal immirgrants are 'hard working people that never break the law and harm no one ever,' as alot of left-of-center sources would like you to believe. He could have pointed out that 30% of federal prisoners are illegal immigrants, which would have illustrated his larger point better.

I live in the midwest so it's really hard for me to say first hand how many illegal immigrants are law abiding citizens and how many of them aren't. I wonder how many of those in federal prisons are there for committing heinous crimes or are there simply there for committing tax/money-related offenses, though.
