should people be banned from smoking in their own home in the presence of children?

ive heard this mentioned before. people say that since the reasoning for outlawing smoking in public places (restaurants and such) is based on health and not simple annoyance with smoke in your eyes that they should apply it to children as well and consider it a form of child abuse.

i think that is ridiculous. I also think banning smoking in restaurants and bars is ridiculous. if you dont like smoking in a restaurant, go some where else. And if enough people were sick of smoking in a restaurant, some smart person would open a restaurant with only no smoking and make alot of money.

as far as restaurants and bars are concerned, let the business owners decide.

and in the home, its amazing to me that the government doesn't feel that there reach is far enough. Now they have to come into our homes and tell us what we can and cant do. As long as smoking is legal, they have NO RIGHT to tell you you cant smoke in your home.

and the ban in restaurants and stuff is a great idea... its bad enough douche-bags choose to smoke squares at parties and shit (ever heard of dancing, faggot?) but then to do it around people who are trying to enjoy a decent meal... that's unacceptable.

im a smoker, addicted. i cant seem to quit its not mind power, its brain washing.

but NO SMOKING in reasturants was a great idea, i remember as a kid coughing my way through meals,
also no smoking in public places such as big sporting areana's underground trainstations should be implemented not already.

but bars on the other hand should be left open to smokers, alot of people like a smoke and a drink, and smokers have the right TOO SMOKE the law has to end somewhere.



but on the main topic..... its basicaly impossible to ban smoking in homes, honestly people can do what ever they like in there own home (within the law), whether it be mastuarate on the couch, worshiping the devil or slitting their wrists. but,

smoking around young children should be discouraged, i never smoke inside just for the fact it stinks up the house, but blowing cancer into your childs face is a big NO-NO.

im also a smoker who enjoys going to bars to play pool, im not 21 so i cant legally drink, im not 21 therefore cant legally smoke either but i used to be able to go places chill out play some pool and smoke a cig whenever i wanted pretty much now you gotta walk like 25 feet away or be told to leave fuq that i say fuq that lol

in australia bars/clubs are still aceptable to smoke at. dont know for how long tho.

but i have banned smoking in my house but that is for the safety of my children,

but wouldnt any one else do the same ???? i dont want my daughter to smoke / inhale smoke from other people when she is so young,

Then leave the restaurant. Or sit in the non-smoking section. You dont have more of a right then smokers to go to a restaurant. Now if the business owner chooses to make it a non-smoking restaurant, then more power to them, its there restaurant. But government intervention is bullshit. And if there was enough outcry from people that wanted stricly non-smoking restaurants, then smart businessmen would open non-smoking restaurants.


and non-smoking bars are a joke. If you dont like smoke in a bar, leave. Theres plenty of other places to get drunk. Anyways, most people go to a bar looking to drink poison and have sex with strangers. And people say smoking is the only health hazard there? come the fuck on.
