.... It opened last night... and I got no sleep... :(
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is not a follow-up to the smash series, but rather the original piece of the puzzle updated with current SFX and gore. The coolest part about the movie, is that it's based on a real serial killer.
TCM actually had above decent acting which caught me off guard. You really believe the character's and their whole purpose in the film. Emotions run high and wild, and are captured quite accurately. Set in the small Texas town of Fuller, in the mid to late 70's, five teenagers are driving along the road.... and well you know the rest, and if you don't... SEE THE MOVIE.
The chill factor was another plus. Everyone in the the theater screamed at the exact same times. I'm a grown ass man, so no yells came from my mouth, but some extra gorey scenes were enough to make my stomach turn.
The entire movie is a suspenseful ride thru a simulation of the bone-rattling events that Ed Gein took part in... and commenced in.
Overall, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a great horror flick, and with the 2003 rejuvenation using movie magic and creative writing, the once laughed-at independent film is once again a cult classic. I was extremely blowed during the viewing of this movie, but don't worry... after the first "scary" part, my shit died... so my state of my mind was still critical and balanced.
The History Behind Leatherface Plot - 10/10
SFX - 10/10
Soundtracks - 10 for accurate songs due to te era, but shit like 'Sweet Home Alabama' is annoying... so 8/10.
Acting - 7/10 Overall: 9/10
If you're into horror... go see it.
If you're not into horror... go see it.
If you don't watch movies... well fuck you then.
Peace
