umm the highlights so far

The cell processor will run at 3.2 GHZ (like the 360). It's a 9 thread processor (360 has 3 processors that do 2 threads for a total of 6 threads) so it will be able to do more calculations (they estimate it to do about 200Gigaflops).

It will use a Blu-ray Disc drive (a high definition format DVD single layer holds 25GB).

It will be released in spring 2006 in japan, late fall in America.

It will have 6 USB ports. 4 in the front 2 in the back (why so many i have no clue.)

Memory- 512MB (256MB XDR Main RAM , 256MB GDDR3 VRAM)

Wireless (bluetooth) controllers. It will support up to 7 of them (is it just me or is that an odd ass number. I mean unless you connect it to multiple TV's 7 controllers is pointless. even with my 50in TV a 7 way split is way to small).

PSP connectivity (you'll be able to use the PSP as a controller)

You will be able to connect other digital devices (camera's mp3 players etc.) to stream music movies and photos.

there is a slot for a Hard drive. its capacity has not yet been determined.

Supposedly they are doing an online service. No clue as to what it will be like or how it will match against XBL.

It will also be backwards compatible (can play PS and PS2 games)

ROFLMAO askdsalkndsand *dies* Is it just me or have things totally flipped this Gen. Last Gen PS2 was the smaller less powerful console with the better controller. This round PS3 has the edge in terms of power (its close but PS3 is more powerful than 360. theoretically speaking anyway) but 360 has the better controller (IMO).

no big surprises but Gran turismo 5, and Devil May Cry4 have been announced (as exclusives of course). And the next GTA (GTA liberity City) will be a launch title (not sure if its exclusive yet).

Edit: there are two video output slots. So i guess you can hook it up to two TV's at the same time. And there are 3 ethernet ports (as seen on the back). Sony finally realizes the fun of Lan parties...

Wow, a lot of USB ports must mean they got a lot of connectivity accessories headed. The Cell processor that IBM made will hopefully be put to good use. Sony boasted that the it was two times faster than the 360.

But I don't understand the odd number of bluetooth controllers? 7? Why not 8. All you would need is another tv and a good FPS and you then get online and it's over with.

Why does it look like it the PS3 and the X-Box 360 could be brothers? It's basically the same color. Standing them up side to side, I can hardly wait.

Fuck that controller. It looks like a damn boomerang. Hopefully the PS3 will be backwards compatible with controllers too.

LMAo thats what im saying. It doesnt have controller ports though so they have to release an adapter to make the dual shock 2 usb compatible (i believe there will be an adapter for the Xbox s controller to plug it in to the usb port).
