I know the lyrics are there but he shouldnt have reused 'theifs theme' for the beat. He should have chosen another song cause this one wont get him the attention he needs for the new album.

You have to be kidding.

Rep Power: 4 | Re: Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead Video I gotta say regardless of the thought behind it and what-not,
I just didn´t feel this one like the older Nas stuff, and I´m talkin first and second album..
Maybe Nas has already peeked?
Is what we´re seeing and hearing a gradual but significant decline in skill and delivery?
I haven´t heard any of the other tracks off the latest album, but I sure hope that this one wasn´t an indicator of what´s to come (as far as the rest of the tracks), ´cuz this one here,
simply wasn´t all that good, beat, lyrics delivery and video...I´m not very impressed at all..
Oh yeah, them organ sounds that he had for the chorus has been used, with the same melody. (The British rap group HIJACK used it on their album-The horns of Jerico, back in 1991).
Naah man, if Nas wants the kinda props for this new effort, that he´s gotten earlier, he simply needs to come doper and harder.....this wasn´t very Illmatic..
And don´t tell me about this bein a fly metaphor and all that, I do get that.
This just wasn´t that tight, matterfact I felt it was kinda sloppy for bein Nas.
Especially after all the hype about this album. |

Rep Power: 3 | Re: Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead Video completely agree with ya, i saw the video last night thought the same thing. The flow was off, the beat wasnt good, the video was mediocre, nothing special. I understand the whole hip hop is dead thing, but the song was just not the Nas i was expecting. I was expecting him to come out swinging with a fuckin awesome video and single, but it doesnt show any promise for the Cd.
Now im not saying Nas' career is over, or that this cd is gonna be whack, cuz i think its gonna be one of top 3 cds of the year. Im just saying that the video and song werent a good choice for a first single, diddnt grab my attention.

Rep Power: 6 | Re: Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead Video You cats are fucking retards. Anybody that knows me knows that im probably the biggest nas fan, but I wont lie when im not feeling something, Im not one of those gayz type groupies like 95% of the cats up here and would lie just because its my favorite Mc . Yeah I know the purpose of the album, I never said he should have made a club banger, but there was a time when nas came with songs that had the lyrics and still kept it hype, ie: "Got Yourself", "One Mic", "Nas Is Like", "Made You Look", all them shits are staight hiphop bangers! Thats what I meant, he should have came with something like those because the average listener today wont even give this shit the time of day. Nas is the illest but not everybody will recognize that. Im def not expecting another "Illmatic" or "It Was Written" though but I know he has that heat still.

Rep Power: 6 | Re: Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead Video Nas has been slowing down for a minute, but not falling off. As long as the cd is better than the last one. The video is straight though, it could have used more scenes though.

Rep Power: 4 | Re: Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead Video well I guess we´ll find out about the rest of the tracks once we peep em..
But there´s no doubt, Nas isn´t as ill as he used to be, and he seems to have gotten sloppy.
And I´m not afraid to say it, I still think that much of what he´s dropped in the past are legendary classics, but I guess that´s why I´m not feelin him now. |

| Re: Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead Video Nah, I was feeling this. I thought the whole concept of the video and whatnot was pretty dope. Chorus was nice, I was digging the little old man singing, Haha. Lyrics were fresh, I was loving that whole old school feel it had to it. But that's just my opinion on the whole thing..Hopefully this will be a raw album.
