| Michael Bush to FB Running back Michael Bush awoke a fullback Monday, and he didn't even know it. "Yeah, that's all I'm going to say about that," Bush said after Monday's practice, which was done behind closed gates in Alameda for the first time since training camp started.
Bush's body language did the talking for him. When met by reporters in the locker room, he dropped his chin into his chest and let out a deep sigh. Consider this the latest wild turn in a 16-month pro career full of them. The Raiders drafted Bush with the first pick of the fourth round in 2007. A Heisman hopeful at Louisville, he was touted as a future star once his broken leg recovered. Bush was made a short-yardage specialist in the offseason. When fullback Oren O'Neal was lost for the season with a knee injury Saturday, Bush was moved into his spot.
"I've always been a team player," Bush ended up saying. "So, it's one of those things. You just suck it up, go about your business and try to have some fun with it."
Bush certainly has the size to be a fullback. He's 6-foot-1 and 245 pounds with above-average tailback speed and dependable hands. His ability to catch screen passes could secure playing time while he learns the position.

| Re: Michael Bush to FB thats great news..Bush is Nice..So fact of haven 2 nic backs in most the time with a 3rd nice back to sub is great for the raiders..Not fantasy owners but great for the Team..now if only russle can learn to throw we wouldn't need that many rbs..trade away 1 to a team for some recievers..mabe try to get Matt Lienart from the cards some how ina trade..i had Russle as a qb..i just hope he has a better season the off season..

if they did put it back to tailback in my opinion
that would be stupid and a waste of talent..
when u have a freshstar back like mcfadden...
u dont toss another young star to SHARE time with him
especially when u have a solid back up in fargas,
bush would be a top 5 full back....in the entire NFL..
if for nothing else.....on pure size and athletisism alone..
guy could catch passes....get across the field for screen play
blocks..if not catch them himelf...but ey...everyone wants to be
the "star back"....smh.....

either way its arguable but the raiders have way too much undeveloped young talent with no good experienced veterans to help

| Re: Michael Bush to FB Bush is the best back on the team. McFadden isn't built for the NFL. He simply doesn't have the power, moves or even the vision. He made it through college using speed and a few cuts against slower opponents. That's all fine and dandy until you consider there are 250lb LBs doing 4.5 40's on a bad day in the NFL. Fargas is a bum, always was. Given that their superb FB went down, likely for the season, Bush is the only back I can see thriving based upon his own abilities. With that said, he won't get the chance. McFadden is putting the fans in the seats, so he'll get the ball.

i feel everyones points...but it is just waaay to early to discount mcfadden..
who thaught adrian peterson would do what he did?.....or jones drew..
with that said....granted they are both alot more powerfull...but size and
experience wise....noone had them guys as top backs....
i think the raiders would be best throwing him at a fullback...
it just opens up alot more shit for the offense....
LB's would have to cover the FB out the backfield...open'n holes in the middle...
short yardage....imagine having to cover a possible FB dive with bush
but also covering the corners for a sweepor off tackle play from mcfadden....
it would be like havingtwo able running backs on the field AT ONCE...
i agree fargas is a scrub....but he is good as a backup....
i just dont think it would be a good idea to waste mcfadden entire'ly...

actually All Day AP.. i knew was a beast it was unfortunate that he got hurt and sat out a year but anyone who watched him at oklahoma the year before was comparing him to walker, little, sanders, etc... there was an obvious ability to play at the NFL level they didnt draft him high because of the injury prior to the draft..
as for maurice jones-drew again another case where people knew he had the physical ability.. he was not built like an average HB but ran at HB speed or quicker, the only reason they slept on him was his combine performance and his build..
and they both on my fantasy for the second time.. i won last year

| Um, dont know if hes confusing D Mac with Felix lol, for real though Darren is a beast there is just no other way to say it. Bush is pretty solid, and Fargas runs hard every play...The only thing holding McFadden back is Oakland's terrible O-Line...lets face it Peterson is a great back but he is running behind one of the best if not the best run blocking line in football, and wouldnt have near the success he had if he was stuck in Oakland...as far as ability though Darren is as talented as any back in the league...a guy name Erick Dickerson said he was the best back hes seen in the last decade..and that guy knows a thing or two about running the football. |
