Is Don Imus worse than most rappers?

I'm just kinda curious. And this is coming from someone in the middle. Im not white, im not black, so i'm probably the most unbiased in this situation.

Now to those that want don imus completely removed from his position. Do you ever listen to rap songs that refer to girls as "nappy-headed hoes" or similar terms, and think NOTHING of it.

Do the girls on that basketball team listen to the same rap songs, and think nothing of it?

Do the people that are petitioning against don imus, also petition against rappers?

I'm not stating my opinion, either way. I want to hear ya'll though.

& those people who don't like what rappers say, what do they do, CHOOSE not to listen to them. & thats all it is, we are given freedom of speech & with that comes a price. The only reason people act on these famous people is because they have a forum & believe that when ur on display there is a certain behavior you need to reform too, which is not the case.

Let's get things straight...when a rapper says "hoe" he is reffering to a whore: a woman who does sexual acts for money gifts, lime light etc. Don Imus reffered to a group of college KIDS (young ladies at that) as "hoe"s. That's unaccpetable. I mean call a spade a spade but these girls are not all "nappy headed hoes"...there is a big difference between calling a person what they are and calling a person out of their name and character...that's slander and it is against the law! Imus calling innocent girls "hoes" is totally differnt that a rapper calling a whore a hoe. *SMH*

Eh. I'm all for Imus's right to say what he said, and I believe the people who are complaining about it are all hypocrits. However, the difference is that he targetted a specific small group of people. Calling girls nappy headed hoes and calling an 11-person team nappy headed hoes is totally different.

The fact that he used the word 'ho' should not outrage black people, at least the intelligent ones. It's our culture that has embraced the word as part of our lexicon. The 'nappy-headed' part is just flat out racist, and wrong, and should be what Imus is under fire for.
