Default iDeaL - Making Moves

First it was text. Rapflava critiqued me, and helped adjust my style and improve. Then it was audio. Now i need ur guys help and support on my performance skills. I've been holding off on these Too Short/Lupe fiasco/snoop dogg oppurtunities simply because i dont wanna be in front of thousands of people unless im, at least, an above average performer. That, and i know the oppurtunities will keep comin, anyway.

So, everyone log in to www.bbkingslive.com at 5PM Eastern, 2 Pacific time, and watch me do my thing. I want u to post as u watch and shit, so that way u can point out flaws AS you see em, and everything posted will be more honest. Of course if i up and forget a line & pick it up the next line, thats some shit i recognize myself, so dont be a dick about it. I probably wont be on tomorrow, so if this is low on the page, hopefully someone will do me the favor of upping it!

Peace...

"Filming and Photography: Video Filming from all floors is $200. No Exceptions. This is due to trademark obligations that are associated with the venue. BB Kings can provide any artist with a DVD of their performance for $150 if they request it in advance. By performing onstage at BB Kings you give BB Kings and it’s affiliates the right to record your likeness and image for streaming video on the internet and any future broadcasting. "

na, i cant record it. Im performing at the knitting factory in 2 weeks though, and i can record that, i think.

Don't wave your arms around too randomly. Stay confident and feel the rhythm.. just no Temptations foot dances. BE THE MUSIC - good luck.

That's my wisdom.

Default i was in the studio with HI-TEK and OMAR CRUZ

damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
so heres the story....
my brother in laws cousin is a pretty rich dude
knows a lot of people...
So he had a party about half a year ago, and Steve Smith from the USC Trojans, and Dwayne jarrett were both there. There was this dude Omar Cruz(omar cruz' myspace) there too, who i heard was a rapper. Little did i know that dude had just got a 50/50 joint venture with Interscope records and is currently working with Just Blaze, Snoop, Nate, etc...He also went to hiphopgame (or was it allhiphop?) on his phone and showed me an article/interview on there about him. He also gave me his mixtape which was hosted by Dj Skee AKA The Games DJ.(skee's myspace)
so he gave me his number to hit him up, and for whatever reason i never did.
So about a month ago, dude has another party...or a BBQ actually, for his bday.
Cruz was tehre again, and we just talked hiphop and other shit all night, again, while playing some hold em and watching football. He says hit him up for real this time to come to the studio.
He hasnt actually heard me rap yet, either.
So today, i hit him up with a text saying...Wadup man, this is josh from Dannys crib...u said to hit u up about heading to the studio but im not sure if u still in NY or not, so holla at me. (he was in NY to record with Just Blaze)
so he calls back and says...come down to the studio, we gon be here til midnight.
So after an hour plus of driving, i arrive.
Walk in, and omar says what up, let me introduce u...this is my man Jay...this is jerry, one of the engineers...this is hi-tek...and this is
::hold up::
::rewind::

now i know wat the hell hi-tek looks like, but for some reason, i just didnt really notice it at first glance. In my head i was like, awwwwwww wtf. U gotta be kidding me.

so they was bumping this one beat that he made for o.cruz.
omg it was so sick...i cant even tell yall wat the chorus was saying, cus Hi-tek laid it down sick, but they all agreed that they were gonna get snoop to do the chorus instead. (as u hear the chorus, snoops voice sorta naturally comes to ur head, it was crazy)
so something was actually wrong with the beat...i guess when he like took it from his comp, to the cd...he did some shit to it that caused some sorta distortion....so he said he knows where its at for sure, and hell send it over, but for the msot part he was done there, and was headed over to work with dre on dres album (i was like wtfffff hahaha)
so hes like, omar u fuckin crazy dog, im tellin dre about you fo sho igga.

so i tell dude it was a pleasure meetin him, give dap and he gone.
So we listening to beats, listening to shit that may make the album or not...finally him and one of the other dudes agree to both start working on one track...turns out this dude is from Virginia, named "dout gotcha"(Dout Gotcha's Myspace)
sure enough, if u go on Clipse myspace page, ull hear a song called "dopeman" and its Dout Gotcha Ft. Clipse.
so while theyre working on the track, i just decided to grab a pad and start writing to the beat....i finished writing pretty fast. Dude recorded chorus and verse, and omar says...u done writing? Im like...uhhhhh, yea?
he goes, get in there...then ill get on the 3rd verse.
So if u noticed wat avarice said in that ideal live shit...im a lot more confident/comfortable on the mic in performance then in recordings because basically...my recordings are about 60-70 percent of wat im capable of, simply because i really cant EXECUTE in the booth yet. Im holding bcak for watever reason.
So i pretty much let loose (still not completely but close) and they were reaaaal impressed....they started going off screaming "daaamn we need to get u a new name man!"
cus we were discussing earlier how that old RnB group was called ideal...but even then they hadnt heard me spit yet lol

So, we finished the track and the unmixed version sounds 100 times better than any computer shit fully mastered. They actually ran out of time, with their budget, so they couldnt get the song mixed, and couldnt even add the main part of the chorus, which was already recorded but not on the cd of the unmixed version..
so the manager gon take a hard drive in tomorrow, get the track...after omar continues work with hi-tek tomorrow, they gon bring THIS joint back to THEIR studio on monday...mix it and everything, and he said i could come with em, and ill get a copy of it. Dude from virginia was like...damn is this an album joint, or mixtape or wat?
and he was like, who fuckin knows...well decide that later. and hes like 'fuck it, put it on a skee mixtape"
and cruz is like...well we gotta hear the final product first, then we gon decide really how good it is.
Basically, im stoked =)

Good night people.

P.S. So hopefully im actually allowed to upload it monday when i get the copy, unless of course it cant be leaked yet. Wish me luck that they keep me on the track and dont replace me with Snoop dogg or Malice =) lol
