Rep Power: 3 | How as a minority- do you have a transparent conversation about racism with whites?? In America........Wow.
That is a heck of a question.
Reason I ask, is because I don't think its possible. How do you explain "feelings" to somebody that probably can not relate to the same feeling.
If you are a minority, have you ever had a majority say stop complaining?
Enlighten us all. I will interject from time to time. Lets not attack each other, and have an open dialog.

Rep Power: 5 | Re: How as a minority- do you have a transparent conversation about racism with white I've actually had this conversation at work and one of my co-workers asked why are we (black folks in America) still upset (in concerns to slavery, racism, etc.).
I don't find it hard to explain because of all the examples that could possibly be given. It's just hard to get a point across, that could possibly reach a means for understanding, to people who don't accept what has been done or what is currently going on in America.
The majority in America don't like the finger pointed at them. They would just rather turn their backs to what has happened by living in all white communities or date outside their race, which is their way of "fitting in."
So we now have to deal with the fact that we're living in a mixed cultured society, but still have to deal with segragation because the minute a black person steps foot in a white community they (the black family) has to become either a sale-out by accepting another lifestyle or that white community decides to close up shop and relocate.
Now dealing with the fitting in factor... There can be numerous issues with this because of the way whites try to portray blacks. I would understand if two people are dating outside of their race and remain the same as individuals, but quite often a person tries to change who they are to accomidate their significant other. The problem I have with this is that I think it's a horrible way to show that change that's needed between each race. It's a damn good way to mock an entire culture though!

Rep Power: 15 | Re: How as a minority- do you have a transparent conversation about racism with white you refering that a black family has to be a sell out to live in a white community is why racism still exists, because black people like to segregate, and live out stero types. shits funny.

Not to say that people need to go wild in order to be themselves, but some of the rules laid down are just ridiculous!
A lot of the places that I've been around often have blacks living in specific areas because that's what's affordable, but blacks can be more accepting for other cultures to move into that area than whites would ever be.

| Eh a lot of people are too easy to point and put the "sell-out" label on someone, I agree there. But whut the fukk at thinkin because a single black family moved into a white community, the WHITE COMMUNITY would sell they're homes and relocate? i dont think so.
racism is for dicks anyway, we are all one. there is no differences, you were just taught from birth and learned to only recognize the differences in each other oppose to the similarities.

I was actually targeting conversations between a minority and a majority. In America, minorities complain about the indifferences in criminal justice, equality of economic opportunities, etc. But it always seems to end with "Lets move on" or "why are you complaining, you werent a slave".
How can you have a transparent conversation about this topic if a majority doesnt connect/recognize the magnitude of racial divide in this nation?
I believe that people really don't care. So why should minorities?
Its like singing to a chior...
*****Once you recognize you are falling on deaf ears, nobody cares enough about the racial injustices, where do minorities go from there??

| Re: How as a minority- do you have a transparent conversation about racism with white actually blacks do not have to sell out to live any where! ive lived amongst whites and now live amongst professional whites philipinos blacks etc
and i have not had to reduce my blackness to live amongst them.
Money allows you to live where ever you want to.
you dont have to conform or forget where you come from to live any where.
people need to expand their minds and see and bring forth where they want to be in their lives!
in order to dialog with non blacks you have to open your minds and be honest and understand the past and the present and the future.
and it will help you see where people different from your selves are coming from.

| Re: How as a minority- do you have a transparent conversation about racism with white actually Imp me being a black man has to agree a little but disagree at the same time .
poverty and wealth go hand in hand many have gained wealth off the strength of others
many have helped the poor stay impoverished. we gain wealth through education.
this conversation can be traversed in many settings because the impoverished will all ways have an ear to want to listen and untill the tables turn we will allways sing this particular song through the ages so no one will forget or attempt to sweep it under a rug .
poverty and the song of injustice will never go away!
