New York rapper Mims is hotly tipped to be the next big thing with debut album Music Is My Saviour.
The star - real name Shawn Mims - thinks he is doing his bit to revise critical opinion about the state of Hip Hop in his home city.
He said: "I want to see New York do as well with its music as the west coast is doing, so what I'm doing is bringing the fun side back to Hip Hop."
However, the rapper is keen to do away with talk of rivalry between east and west coast Hip Hop.
Mims said: 'I want to start to get rid of this territorial thing. I feel that music is music all across the board.
"It doesn't matter where you are from. I could be from the planet Mars and I could have a hit record. A hit record is going to be a hit record"

I dont see anything special in him he's just a high school rapper, as in the latest fashion out for the moment, contemporary, i doubt mims will still be "HOT" or "FLY" come 2008-2010, but hey thas what keeps record companies going isnt it.

That's all it takes is one hot song to make someone. Geez, give it a little time. People don't release all their songs as singles at the same time unless your name is Usher.

He's cool. I like his song. He's going to go far because you have to admit that his "one hot song" as you put it is VERY hot...above average. He's not going to be a one hit wonder.
