i gotta question....do yall get fined if you dont vote? I heard that and i'm wondering if thats true. and if so, does that tend to make people pay attention more, or do people just vote randomly so they dont get fined?

Yes & No.
..I dont vote, they send me letters.
I once got fined, but didnt pay it.
..Eventually they'll send me a court summons,
& I'll have a fuckin barney at the judge.

so even though you get fined if you dont vote, people still dont pay attention? what is yalls normal voter turn out? and do you get fined if you dont vote in mayor elections and things like that? or just national elections?

everyone pays more attention because they have to vote. not to say you cant just go in and drop a blank form in the box...but generally the population has a good idea of the workings of all the major political parties.

manditory voting is an excellent idea which should be implemented in america so you dont end up with a redneck stealing the election.

some of my friends are "too cool" to vote. i hate them and they arent really my friends. people in africa risk their lives and travel 100's of miles just to vote. so i think its important to have a role in who is going to be controlling your country for the next 4 years.

i completely agree....in other countries people fight wars and die over the right to vote, and some people think the 10 minutes it takes to vote is a waste of there time. i just dont know if mandatory voting is good, because there will be alot of idiots that will just vote because they have to, and wont know what the hell there talking about. right now in arizona, there trying to pass a law. the law is basically making the election a lottery. everyone that votes is entered to win a million dollars and then one person wins it. i think thats the worst idea ever, because your going to have complete morons voting just to win, not knowing shit about politics...but yeah...

I vote. And I agree.. America should find some of system to make everyone vote.. but they wont knowing a large percentage of Democrats dont vote as it is.. and some that do, they're votes arent counted.. damn Republicans.. Did you know there were enough votes thrown out in Cleveland and Cincinatti in mostly Democratic areas to turn the state to a John Kerry win? It was on the news here. I was in college in Columbus so I know mine counted..

^dude, you want labor in? I would much prefer a pathetic liberal weasel like John Howard than the most educated Labor candidate. They cant even manage their own political affairs behind closed doors AND they support George Bush just as much as Liberals.

But as it is for most western countries, you get to choose 1 out of the 2 really bad candidates.

Uhh, last i heard the people that did vote, voted in george bush. I would have to say that THEY dont know what the hell they are talking about.

the reason i want labour in, is because liberal have been saving their revenue they take from us,
its time for labour to get in spend it all and give back to the community,
then we can start the process again.
