and na i haven't tried to read lord of the rings either. the exerpts i've read seemed a bit too wordy for me, and fantasy books aren't really my thing. i'll stick to the movies, i finally got return of the king the other day. damn that shit was flame.

I'll read anything, but yeah that's exactly how Lord of the Rings is, it got pretty agrivating keeping up when he says something like:

That really didn't grab my attention or stand out to me as something that I wanted ot keep on reading.

But I guess if you think about it, the standards and the attentions of readers then vs now are considerably different. It's way different though, it's like hearing a sonnet at an spoken word event. I try to keep in mind to that, we're waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different from the people who fell in love with these books that would now be considered (by our standards) sub par.

Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah was good. Omar Tyree's "Flyy Girl" was good but he fell off after dat novel. "A Do Right Man" was a book I used when i couldn't sleep. Harry Potter is iight. Anybody heard of a book called "Making Lemons"?

the color purple is a book and movie required(along wit roots) that you are required by my grandma to peep....she want us to know where 'us' come from...LMAO(had to throw that in there)....but i like the book better.....currently i'm readin blacktail and my bartendin book(why the hell they let alcoholics get certifications).....i read a lot mo but yall probably wouldnt be interested in what i read even though its the best african american "grown up" series out there....might be a lil too much for some immature cats

ayo, this weekend when i was out of town i got to read A Hip-Hop Story during my downtime...

for once in his life, precision was on point. definitely a must read for any hip hop fan. i liked that it wasn't a bullshit book made for ignorant ass cats who thought shit like Carmen was hot, but it was a well-crafted story that that sucked you in. classic material? mos def.
