Rep Power: 10 | aigh, i gots it
gameplay, is similar to nba as far as what player can do( dunks, jukes, post moves, etc). It's way harder to score in this because not everyone an 1 on 1 athlete in the NBA, so thinking is a must. one shit thats killing me is the post game, now that Y is now lead pass and not backdown its took me at my groove because im still sorta new to the x box controller reaching for them black and white buttons is a wierd stretch of fingers for me. i haven't even taken advantage of the leadpass, i cant say its necessary to win, but i it helps mos def on fastbreaks. The shooting is mos def easier for 3 simply because its a closer distance than the NBA 3. The player ratings range from alot of 50s and 60s to a small amount of 90s. Every player with a 90 overall is well deserving of it, and the only gripe with ratings i have are on certain freshmen. You got players like randolph morris and lemarcus aldridge who are sure to be one yearers and they overalll is 74, meanwhile demarcus nelson is 77. The average overall for top highschool starts is anywhere from 74 to 77, i think it should be much higher.
the player models, look much different then last year, nowhere near as many faces. i started seeing duplicates early within naming players (yes it can auto name but i like putting the real ones in) the create a player is exactly like nba 2k5s.
I've yet to start legacy mode but i'll do a quick year or two just for the review.
audiowise you wont be getting anything special just use the hard drive if u got x box, i feel sorry for ps2 owners. the commentary is great, as much as i hate jay bilas he never shuts up and i think its a good thing.

it's wierd, it's got the espn basketball engine but it plays differently. it seems faster and just better in general. hot indeed, well worth $20. |

1. ESPN College Hoops 2k5 - has a great feel to it, i'm really enjoying this title a lot. the legacy mode is very deep, so i know that ESPN Football can do it if they put their heart into it. hopping on xbox live and battling with two scrubs is way too much fun. i'm not even that big of a college sports fan, but this one definitely deserves top honors.
2. NBA Live 2005 - i assumed that this was going to be my favorite basketball game this year, but ESPN College Hoops edges it out. this is a really good game that's hampered by a few flaws. the most annoying ones being the the lack of many fast breaks, sometimes shooting out of bounds when battling down low, and the piss poor graphics. the gameplay is the most important thing though, and nba live is a very solid game.
3. ESPN NBA 2k5 - it's funny how i can love college hoops and dislike this game, but unfortunately that's the case. other than the graphics i didn't like this title very much at all. it seemed like College Hoops tweaked the engine a touch and produced a better game. the 2k series used to be my favorite up until last year...damn shame.
4. March Madness 2005 - it's only 4th because i haven't played it yet, and i doubt i ever will now that i have two games that i thoroughly enjoy.
quick thoughts... |
