Personally, I think that men are smarter... simply because I myself, am a man.

Women can be smart, it's just that a lot of the time feelings cloud their judgement and they don't think straight, logically. As far as book smart, that's just remembering information I'm sure either or could do just as well.

i heard men have more capacity to become smart but i guess how u use it is the real test. But i think that since opportunities are different for men and women and its been this way for centuries thats a major factor, also even now things are not equal recently in the u.s. navy the was just a woman who has made th highest rank a women ever has and that an 0-6 aka captain but yet theres been men forever commanding the navy as vice admirals, admirals etc. plus if you look at the chain of cammand for the u.s. military every person from the president to the vice prez, to secretary of defese, to secretary of navy, to chief of naval operations and other branches etc. is a man the only woman on staff is condoleeza rice which is an appointed woman so if true equality was established then maybe the real results for who is more intelligent would be shown.

women are by nature better multi taskers than men... probably a result of being the home maker for most of recorded history.. while men naturally gain a mathematical edge because of the hunter past.. you dont realize how many mathematical equations in essence your mind makes just to gauge where to throw the spear to hit the moving animal.. thats why womens basketball sucks..

in essence maybe we do score higher on iq tests but women have different abilities that sort of level the playing field

also remember as a whole more men until recently by far have recieved higher levels of education as women being in positions of power in the work force is a recent occurence

they have been historically held back

so this figure could easily level out much more over the next generation or 2

First of all, if your going to make a one to two sentence comment, then don't bother. I want a mature discussion and a little more work on your part than 1/2 sentences, please.

I may think about changing my opinion about men being smarter than women, because, there are a growing number of intelligent women. Also, if you think about who all of your teachers were in the past, I gurantee you the majority of them were women. you have to be pretty smart to become a teacher, so women do have the capacity to learn just as much as men.

Currently, men are the smarter sex, with equallity being semi new and women are still acclimating themselves with their newfound freedom. I predict in about half a decade, at least, it might take a lot longer, women and men will be pretty much equal in intelligence. In terms of rights, women are basically equal to men, except in some aspects of business. I'd say the only thing now stopping them from reaching their potential is fashion. The choice is now in their hands. Without man stopping them with limited rights, women must make the ultimate choice: Fashion or Education. Few women can handle both.

Men used to rule the civilizations, make the decisions, and guide their families - that is until Cleopatra pranced onto the gender debate scene. I also think that both sexes balance out in the end. The past was different - in the modern world, women are on high seats of power. Politicians, soccer moms, clothing companies..

Woman didn't go to war, which meant that they wouldn't most likely (under the circumstances of war) die.

Men did go to war - which heavily increased their chances of dying..

Both could mean smart or stupid, male or female. Since I'm a man, and I'm the smartest individual of my household of men and women, I'd say men.

I just believe that we're different chemically, as one stated earlier due to women's role in the history of human society. They run much more on emotion while men are logical when it comes to our perspective. Just how blacks were bred to be strong and athletic, women were "bred" to be the caregivers and household managers. Take for example, how experts say to talk to your babies, even though they can't understand you it stimulates their brain and has been shown to generate smarter children. Throughout history women haven't been "stimulated" to think the way a man does, and most of the time been told not to.

that is some of the stupidest shit ive ever read. 'feelings cloud their judgement', as if men have never made dumb ass decisions based on emotion rather than rationality. ofcourse women are just as smart and able as men. the only reason so many common and famous discoveries were made by men is becaus if a woman had done something smart at one point, it still wouldve been considered inadaquate. obviously we're not completely equal, like illlit said, there are things men are better at and things women are better at. but it balances out nonetheless. and statistics aside, i can pretty much firmly speak for everyone whos ever gone to highschool when i say girls did a hell of a lot better. there were fewer guys doing well, although the guys who did well did really well, most of the a students were girls. it may be inaccurate, but i always found it pretty common in any school i ever went to, rely on girls as your lab partner caus they got the shit done. hands down. saying girls arent as smart as men is bullshit becaus it doesnt constitute for the millions of women who are actually much smarter than most men. and to say 'their feelings cloud their judgement' is as ignorant and stereotypical as calling a black guy incapable of learning. those surveys arent fair as far as im concerned. there probably are a few guys out there who are smarter than everyone else on the planet, but theres only a few of them and a shitload women who top the runners up.

Interesting point in your post, Cronus. I believe that both genders are balanced evenly. Any worldwide population IQ records?
