Clemens is back . . .

The Astros now have one of the best rotations in baseball with Roy Oswalt, Andy Pettitte, Roger Clemens and Wade Miller. For years now the Astros have had one of the better bullpens in the National League, but not enough starting pitching to consistently get to the sixth inning of games. With the combination of Pettitte and Clemens, that should be taken care of this season.


Clemens was entering the toughest year of retirement for a pitcher -- the first. He's still in good shape and knows he can still strike out batters. Last season, he won 17 games while having 190 strikeouts, 10th most in the majors. Those aren't the numbers of someone who's over the hill. With spring training right around the corner, I'm sure the competitive juices were flowing and he realized he wasn't ready to hand the ball to the manager.

^I knew Clemens wasn't done. I just think that it was all planned, him getting Pettite to come there and now he is coming out of retirement. Their rotation is gonna be ill, but I don't know if they gonna have the bats to back it up.

I don't know about not having the bats...

Bagwell, Berkman, Biggio, Kent? Those are some of the best hitters in the MLB. The one thing that may hurt them though is not having Billy Wagner after they traded him to the Phillies. But, they did acquire Brandon Duckworth who will be a good 4th or 5th starter.

yeah . . . that is true. I might have spoke to fast about their offense, but one thing, they will be one of the best teams in the NL if they can have 2 more solid starters and some good middle inning pitchers.

If Roy Oswalt pitches good, and Octavio Dotel can continue to throw hard out of the bullpen, the Astros will be a very hard team to beat.
