i found this list while i was looking around, and i would personally change alot of it. first.. by taking out harry potter even though he's cool and all...

NPR: 100 Best Characters..

i dont like alot of 1900s type stuff. but if i had to pick my overall fav in all literature

1.mercutio from romeo and juliet. (he's just brilliantly insane)
2.archie from the chocolate war
3.cat in the hat
4. i forgot his name but the main character from deadeye dick by kurt vonnegut. and alot of other characters from this author. kilgore trout, etc.
5.boo radly from tokillamocking bird
6. not really a character, but van gogh from lust for life by irving stone. it was a beautiful book.
7.simon and roger from lord of the flies

ill come back later and add.. but

i wasnt much of a fan of 'to kill a mocking bird' but boo radly was a good character..made it enjoyable
