Re: Best Capone N Noreaga Song In 10 Years (Listen)
Thats Definitely One Of Their Greatest Songs Ever Made. Capone-N-Noreaga Are One Of My Favorite Artists Of All Time. My Favorite Song Of Theirs Is 'All We Got Is Us' From The Album The Reunion. I Really Hope They Make Another Album They Were So Underrated As Well. By The Way Simagine Is That Daft Punk In Your Avatar?

It's like "Joe Budden" sampling "Metallica - Nothing Else Matters" .. hip-hop Is a genre standing on It's own and rappers shouldn't sample actual rock music In any way.
Not because I don't like rock, I'm not a fan but still, but rock's actual music and If a rapper uses It that makes them so much less credible. Rockers will laugh, so will I.. hip-hop can't mesh with rock music obviously because you then proceed to make hip-hop In general look dumb.
I like the song, I do think It's utterly uncreative to sample an existing song.

I agree, but I refer to the "Beatles" as pop-rock. Nothing wrong with sampling that, but modern day hard-rock or metal Is a different story. I place "System Of A Down" In the hard-rock category, excuse me If I'm wrong. But to me they shouldn't do that.

If Rap even existed without sampling already existing songs it would be a completely different genre. I would say easily 50% of all rap songs thus far have sampled already existing songs in some way or another.

LOL.. sorry dogg but uhm hip hop started off with sampling existing songs. And Run DMC used almost complete rock riffs in their shit sooo ionno what u talkin bout. Hip Hop is like a blank canvas, you can paint anythang and take elements from anywhere to create your masterpiece. Songs dope as fukk heard it on the radio the other day.

I am the original DJ Jazzy Jay
From the Mighty Mighty Zulu Nation
First I'll say my name is um
Original scratch creater Grand Wizard Theodore
For those who don't know, I started back out in '74.
Africa Bambata, Disco King Mario, Cool Herc, Grandmaster Flash
And you know, some of the pioneers who did it back then y'know
Hip hop is universal man, it all depends upon on what you do
Hip hop is like what you would call the bastard child of a lot of different forms of music
I just feel good that a lot of rock bands are like, are like recognizing y'know, the culture
We used to play these beats because they used to drive us on the dance floor
And people don't really know that it's a rock record until like the guitars come in and stuff like that
We didn't have no hip hop beats back in the days, we had to take it from everywhere we could get it from
Jus' trying to take it to another level
That's what keeps the music new and keeps it fresh
As far as y'know rock is concerned man, I think rock is, you know, a big part of hip hop man
Rock helped influence hip hop, hip hop helped influence the world

I'm talking STRICTLY hard-rock or metal, you don't have to tell me most beats are sampled because I'm not a complete fucking idiot. You don't read what I'm saying.
Sampling "Metallica" or "System Of A Down" Is a no-no, you talk "Beattles" and shit like that. That's not metal, guitar riffs back In '73 aren't the same as you hear them now. I'm not talking pop-rock or anything like that I'm talking metal or hard-rock or whatever It's called.
I don't agree with with 'Jazzy Jay', and no It's not dumb to disagree with a pioneer. I've been listening for many many years now, he's a producer and therefor calsl hip-hop universal and a mixture of genres combined because he's creating sounds.. hip-hop producers aren't exactly the most musical people out there with extroardinary talent. Everyone makes hip-hop beats, even SoundClick kids get payed for FL beats and signed rappers buy them.
Don't quote Jazzy Jeff, because he started producing in '73 he must be right ? He's oldskool like a motherfucker 'n In since the beginning but I don't agree with what he's saying.
Actually, hip-hop isn't anything but spoken word. A beat , to me, Is secondary. Don't go 'n talk like hip-hop Is such a progressive 'n high standard genre of music.. It's what they have to say. And only very few concentrate on lyrics, guys like "Common" do sound like the future.. they have a unique sound.
Hip-hop Is hip-hop, talk knowledge 'n vent. But I'm going off the topic now so I'll leave It at this. You don't have to agree with me but It's how I feel about It.. and I still love It to bits.
How did hip-hop influence the world Jay ? You didn't have beats, so he's saying they rapped over rock patterns ? He's just talking away.. rock had nothing to do with hip-hop in the first place. How did rock influence hip-hop ?

What do you think mufukkas was listenin to before Hip Hop was around? Other music.. which some of it was probably rock because it was really popular at the time along with Disco. And.. if they're rappin over rock breaks don't you think they heard the records??
Hard rock or whatever you wanna call it, "death metal" or just "metal" (I HATE breaking music down into sub-genres because it's really pointless, dont put a label on it just enjoy it and accept it for what it is) is basically "Gangsta Rap". It's a way to let out aggression and pent up frustration. You have the softer side of rock, which you would probably call "pop rock", which you can compare to your Common's and shit. But you could label Common "Emo-Rap" since it seems like it's all he does, right? Labels take away from the art because it starts to add stereotypes and put mufukkas in a box. So to me.. in your pre-packaged music world..
Gangsta Rap = Death Metal
Why not intertwine the two?? I personally get the same feeling from both. Whether it be a Brotha Lynch Hung track or a Slipknot record.
