Yeah man people get so used to a artist's one dimension that we forget what being a "artist" is about. You have never seen Kevin Gilbert or Ronald Bull paint a painting and keep painting the same one just with different colors. They establish a style and go beyond the ordinary to expand there versatility. At the same time, you know based upon there style of painting who did witch painting.
Mos Def touched different stages of versatility with he's latest 3 albums. "Black on Both Sides" "The New Danger" and now "True Magic". You know it's a Mos Def album based on his style of metaphors and melodic lines but at the same time brings something fresh to the table each time. Different, maybe so - but he brings the true definition to hip-hop.
